the explosion of new media outlets, alternative publishers
have found themselves competing in an Attention Economy. In
an Attention Economy, the number of information sources is
constantly growing - in print, on the air and on the Net.
The
information that alternative publications have historically
"owned", and used to build a franchise, is now readily available
from a number of different sources. This new environment undermines
the ability of alternative newspapers to grow (or perhaps
even maintain) their core audience. Readers are moving to
new content choices at alarming rates. Advertisers are following
them...
