Drillbit
Case Study : Metro Guide
PRODUCT
OVERVIEW
Metro Guide is an annual directory-style publication produced
by Metro
Times alt-newsweekly. Like a hip yellow pages, it serves
as the "annual manual" for those who want to know
what to do - and where to do it - in the Detroit metropolitan
area.
Each
Metro Guide features a wealth of information, including: a
complete bar/club/restaurant guide, a neighborhood-by-neighborhood
directory, and a yearlong look at notable events in the city.
Now
in its third year, this glossy guide has provided Metro Times
access to new advertisers, reader groups and distribution
channels.
CASE
STUDY
Nearly all of Metro Guide's content is produced using Drillbit's
award-winning DrillPress
content management system.
Because
DrillPress stores a publication in its most elemental form,
most of Metro Guide was created using content that already
exists. "There is no way we could profitably produce
Metro Guide without the DrillPress infrastructure," says
Metro Times publisher David Jost, "Metro Guide has been
a great way for the paper to repurpose existing content to
reach new readers and advertisers."
Metro
Times is excited about the possibility of other new products
made possible with the Drillbit infrastructure, including
a local music yearbook and an annual nightlife bible.
